I’m a big fan of Spotify, especially its Discover Weekly curated playlists. This will keep your personal music library nice and tidy by keeping the tracks you import quarantined to their respective playlists.
You can find that switch in Settings → Music. If you’re importing directly into an Apple Music playlist, then I highly recommend disabling the option to Add Playlist Songs to My Music. Developer Carlos Perez states that he is working to see if he can help ensure more accuracy with regard to the order that the songs are added to a playlist. The order of the songs in the playlist weren’t exactly in the order as they were listed on Spotify, but they were close.
When I imported this week’s Spotify Discover Weekly playlist, all 30 songs made it over to the Music app without a hitch. Watch our video walkthrough below to see how I quickly import a Discover Weekly playlist into a corresponding Apple Music playlist. Apple doesn’t allow developers to create Apple Music playlists, which means you’ll have to select a playlist that already exists in your Apple Music library. If you go the playlist-to-playlist route, I recommend creating a corresponding Apple Music playlist for your destination prior to using SongShift’s import feature. Once the Spotify playlist is selected, you have the option of importing into an playlist, or directly into your My Music library. From there, it’s just a matter of selecting the playlist that you wish to migrate. You’ll then be prompted to log in to the Spotify account containing the playlists that you wish to migrate.Ī simple tap on the Begin Import button on SongShift’s main screen will take you to your list of available Spotify playlists. Once SongShift is installed, you’ll be asked to provide access to your media library. You must also be running iOS 9.3 or later on your iOS device. In order to take advantage of the functionality that SongShift provides, you must be an Apple Music subscriber, and the songs that you wish to import must already be available on Apple Music. In the past, there have been some roundabout ways to accomplish that task, but SongShift is one of the first apps that takes advantage of a new iOS 9.3 provision that makes it possible for third-party apps to access Apple Music. SongShift is a just-released app that lets Spotify users import playlists directly into Apple Music.
